Uni-Ball One Gel Pens - Limited Edition Summer Colours (0.38mm) Review

If you’re a stationery enthusiast like me, you’ve probably had your eye on the Uni-Ball One Gel Pens. I recently got my hands on the Limited Edition Summer Colours set (0.38mm), specifically the "Puppy Colour" set, and I’m here to SPILL the stationery TEA, so to speak. Are they worth it? Let’s dive into everything you need to know about these pastel pens!

What’s Included?

The “Puppy” set features six pastel shades with adorable names:

  • Puppy: A soft, sorbet-like orange-beige

  • Cotton Candy: A pastel pink

  • Morning Glory: A pastel purple

  • Goldfish Bowl: A vibrant coral

  • Kitten: A muted grey

  • Fluffy Cloud: A pastel blue

Lovin’ these shade names, not going to lie! 10/10 cute.

Performance

The 0.38mm tip is ultra-fine, which makes these pens ideal for detailed writing or journaling. Personally, I find the tip a bit small for everyday use. That said, they’ve been a fantastic match for my Hobonichi planner—the ultra-thin Hobonichi pages pair perfectly with these pens as they don’t bleed through at all, which is a huge win for planner enthusiasts!

As for the colours…while darker shades like Goldfish Bowl and Morning Glory pop nicely on paper, the lighter shades (like Fluffy Cloud and Puppy) are harder to read, especially on white or cream paper. If vibrant, visible colour is a must for you, these lighter tones might not deliver.

Design Features

The pen design is sleek and modern. One standout feature is the paper-clip-style pen clip, which stretches out to clip onto chunkier notebooks or surfaces. It’s a practical touch that’s also very *aesthetic*.

Verdict

If you’re a fan of Uni-Ball pens and love a pastel aesthetic, the Limited Edition Summer Colours set is a fun addition to your collection. That said, I’d recommend sticking to the darker shades if readability is a priority. While I’ve enjoyed using these pens, especially in my Hobonichi planner, the lighter colours don’t pack enough punch to make the set an absolute must-have.

Rating: 6/10

Would I buy this set again? Probably not, but I’ll still be keeping an eye out for Uni-Ball’s next release. What about you? Have you tried these pens? Let me know your thoughts!
